Rwanda cyber defense

Cybersecurity specialists are calling on businesses in Rwanda to bolster their digital defenses and create recovery strategies to mitigate potential financial and reputational losses from cyberattacks.

This urgent request was made during a workshop held in Kigali, organized by the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA) and the Rwanda Development Board (RDB). The event focused on the theme “Building Cyber Resilience in the Business Sector.”

Key Recommendations from Experts

Experts highlighted the importance of early threat detection, ongoing system monitoring, and implementing layered security protocols. They warned that no system can provide absolute protection against cyber threats.

  • Alan Kajangwe, CEO of Wired Den, recommended that businesses closely monitor their transactions and operations to quickly identify any breaches and mitigate their impact.
  • Vincent Ruzibuka, CEO of QT Software, urged companies to evaluate the cybersecurity measures of their technology partners before integrating their systems.
  • Joel Gashayija, CEO of Shield Tech Hub, emphasized viewing cybersecurity as a vital investment that fosters growth, rather than merely an expense.
