Paystack Virtual Terminal expansion

Paystack Virtual Terminal expansion

Paystack, a leading Nigerian fintech company, has extended its Virtual Terminal service to Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, and South Africa. This move is a significant step in enhancing in-person payment processes across the continent.

The Virtual Terminal enables merchants to create unique QR codes for employees like cashiers and sales agents. Customers can scan these QR codes to pay via mobile money, cards, or Apple Pay, with instant payment confirmations sent to the staff member’s WhatsApp. This not only makes the payment process quick and convenient for customers but also provides them with a secure and transparent payment experience.

Key Features and Benefits:

  1. Flexibility and Control: Merchants can turn off QR codes, change associated WhatsApp numbers, and set up multiple notification recipients, enhancing operational efficiency and security.
  2. Cost-Effectiveness: Merchants can generate QR codes directly from the Paystack Dashboard, eliminating the need for physical POS devices and reducing operational costs.
  3. Wide Adoption: Since its launch in Nigeria in 2021, the Virtual Terminal has been successful in various sectors, including retail, restaurants, and pay-on-delivery services.
  4. Seamless Integration: The Virtual Terminal brings Paystack’s online checkout experience to physical locations, offering real-time payment notifications and a smooth transaction process.

Regional Payment Options:

  • Côte d’Ivoire: MTN MoMo, Wave, Orange Money, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay.
  • Ghana: MTN MoMo, Telecel Cash (formerly Vodafone Cash), AirtelTigo Money, Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay.
  • Kenya: M-PESA, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay.
  • South Africa: Scan to Pay, SnapScan, EFT, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay.

In April 2022, Paystack obtained a switching and processing license from the Central Bank of Nigeria, enhancing its transaction routing capabilities. As a Stripe-owned fintech company, Paystack’s continued innovation and expansion illustrate its commitment to advancing payment solutions across Africa. The Virtual Terminal’s launch in these four countries is a pivotal step toward modernizing and simplifying in-person payment processes continent-wide.
