Rwanda has taken a significant step toward becoming a technology-driven economy with the launch of the Kigali Innovation City (KIC), a bold initiative to foster innovation and tech growth in the country.

Prime Minister Dr Edouard Ngirente led the groundbreaking ceremony for the project, underlining Rwanda’s dedication to a prosperous future driven by technological advancement. In his speech, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to key project partners, including Africa50 and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), for their vital role in bringing the project to life.

He emphasized the importance of the ongoing real estate developments within Kigali Innovation City, noting that they will play a critical role in achieving Rwanda’s long-term vision of a tech-based economy. “The Government of Rwanda is fully committed to ensuring the success of Kigali Innovation City and will provide the necessary support to help realize its full potential,” Dr. Ngirente stated, instilling confidence in the project’s future.

The Prime Minister also encouraged local and international investors to seize the opportunities offered by KIC, highlighting its potential to become a hub for technological innovation, research, and entrepreneurship and shape a promising future for Rwanda’s tech-driven economy.

Concluding his remarks, Dr Ngirente expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders, including the private sector and international partners, for their continued dedication and efforts in making Kigali Innovation City a reality and positioning Rwanda as a future leader in Africa’s tech ecosystem.
